Alec Wilkinson is Britain’s most experienced sailing broadcaster. He’s passionate and knowledgeable about the sport and enjoys the challenge of engaging new fans.
After presenting two America’s Cup cycles for Sky Sports (which equates to around 400 hours of live TV and included a record TV audience for sailing in 2013) Alec now commentates and anchors sailing events for numerous broadcasters around the world.
He is also the live race-day reporter and news producer for the host-broadcaster of the America’s Cup.
Alec travelled the world reporting on the Volvo Ocean Race and has produced TV coverage for a range of sailing events. As a commentator Alec has covered Kiel Week, the Vendee Globe race and the 505 World Championships.
A qualified dinghy sailor, Alec enjoys sailing whenever possible and considers round the world sailors to be the “ultimate adventurers.”
Alec created the monthly podcast Sailing Uncovered which features the sport’s top names and biggest events. The podcast has also become a stage show and was voted ‘Favourite Attraction’ at the London Boat Show.
Special guests included Dame Ellen MacArthur, Sir Ben Ainslie, Dee Caffari MBE, Saskia Clark MBE, Sam Davies, Mike Golding.
Sailing Uncovered – LIVE helped draw 90 thousand people to the Excel. Alec’s production team developed three different shows based on the organiser’s requirements, including a quiz show and chat show.
