Alec Wilkinson is an experienced and versatile TV and radio sports presenter. Multi-lingual and with a wealth of sports knowledge he loves transmitting the atmosphere of big sporting events whether from the studio or on location. He works for some of the world’s biggest networks and is also a sought-after media trainer.
Biography and career
After graduating in modern languages from University College London, Alec packed his bags to work as a DJ on a pirate radio station in Italy before returning to UK radio. He moved into TV as a sports reporter at Central ITV and later at ITN. He spent seven years as a sports presenter at Sky News. His sports news background means Alec loves engaging new audiences in less mainstream sports and he was asked to join Sky Sports to do just that – what followed was a busy schedule of live shows including ATP tennis, sailing, badminton, cycling and motorsports.
Whilst presenting Sky Sports’ coverage of the America’s Cup Alec became passionate about sailing and now commentates and anchors sailing events for numerous broadcasters around the world. He also created the Sailing Uncovered podcast.
Alec is bi-lingual in Italian and fluent in French. He has lived and worked in Paris, Milan and Singapore.
Television and Radio
Alec is an experienced and versatile multi-sports presenter who has anchored hundreds of hours of live sport including three America’s Cups, two years of ATP tennis, international football, badminton and cycling. He has also reported for Sky Sports News.
Contracted to American network Fox Sports Alec is their Champions League pitch-side reporter and post-match interviewer, bringing the latest news and match atmosphere to North America.
Using his extensive knowledge of sailing Alec broadcasts to viewers around the globe as the live race-day reporter, interviewer and news producer with the host-broadcast team.
Seven years as one of the channel’s sports presenters saw Alec covering many of the decade’s big breaking stories whilst dealing with the lightening pace of news channel programming. He also used his fluent Italian on Sky Italia covering both news and sports stories from London. 2000-2007
Alec spent four seasons as a reporter and presenter on the Premier League’s official channel, broadcasting to 500 million viewers around the world. 2010-2014

Alec has worked at two winter Olympics and two summer Games as a news producer and reporter for OBS, using his understanding of international audiences’ different editorial interests
As Head of TV News for the Commonwealth Games Alec managed a team of producers and reporters, developing content strategy and building good working relationships with other in-house production teams in order to share material and resources. Managing and mentoring the multi-experience team was an important part of making the project a success.
Alec’s passion for sport, editorial nouse, and news contacts are much in demand and Alec has worked with Sunset+Vine for several years as a producer for sports events or teams wishing to develop their media presence through increased global news coverage.
